Introduction to Dr. Chen

Dr. Amy Chen graduated from Shanghai Chinese Medical College (a six-year program) in Shanghai, China in 1968 with an Oriental Medical Doctor degree (O.M.D.). Dr. Chen has 34 years of clinical experience practicing Chinese medicine using acupuncture and herbs. She is a licensed acupuncturist and physician's assistant in Washington State and a national board certified acupuncturist and herbalist by National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine  (NCCAOM).

Dr. Chen started her clinic in Seattle in 1983 (at the Providence Medical Center Professional Building from 1983-1988 and at the Lake City Professional Center from 1988-2002). She also taught Chinese medicine at the Bastyr University and Northwest Institute of Oriental Medicine College from 1984 to 1994. She has participated in two clinical studies using acupuncture treatment. One was organized by Blue Cross for their Alternapath program in 1994-1995 and one was for Group Health’s low back pain study 1997-1998. She had the honor of being selected and listed in Seattle Magazine’s Top Doctors issue in the profession of top acupuncturists in 2000, September 2003, September 2004, September 2005, and September 2006.

In addition to pain relief, her specialties are using acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat the following ailments: disorders of muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and post trauma syndrome; OBGYN problems and hormonal imbalance, including irregular period, dysmenorrhea, infertility and menopause syndromes; disorders of the digestive, respiratory and urogenital system, such as diabetes, colitis, sinusitis, and chronic bladder infection; enhancement of immune function; allergies; insomnia, anxiety, depression; skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema, and quit smoking and wellness programs for weight control. Dr. Chen can treat many other conditions and symptoms, please give us a call or contact us via e-mail if you do not see your particular issue listed.

The initial treatment plan consists of three treatments for acute ailments and six treatments (twice per week) for chronic diseases or syndromes. Then an affirmative plan will be established based on the effectiveness and progress that results from the initial treatments. The treatment plan to stop smoking is one visit every week for three weeks.
